Srinagar: M. Yaqoob Dunoo, National Spokesperson, National Loktantrik Party (NLP) appeals to all political parties in Jammu and Kashmir to come together under one united platform and collectively urge the Government of India to restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir without any further delay.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had earlier assured the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India that adequate time was required for the completion of the delimitation process, the conduct of Assembly elections, and the restoration of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir before statehood could be restored.
Today, all these conditions have been fulfilled. The delimitation process has been completed, Assembly elections were conducted peacefully, an elected government has been in office for nearly a year, and the overall law and order situation has significantly improved. In these circumstances, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have every right to ask: what is the reason for the continued delay in restoring statehood?
The National Loktantrik Party believes that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve clarity and a definite timeline regarding the restoration of their constitutional status. Any unnecessary delay only increases uncertainty and disappointment among the people.
I appeal to all political parties, irrespective of their political ideologies, to rise above party interests and unite in the larger interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Together, we should raise a strong and democratic voice for the immediate restoration of statehood, which is a legitimate and long-standing aspiration of the people.
