Srinagar, August 1, 2026: The Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, organised the second Official Language Conference-cum-Workshop, "Uttar Samvad–2026," in hybrid mode at the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, today. The programme was organised to promote the progressive use of Hindi in official work and to strengthen awareness of the Official Language Policy among officers and employees.
The inaugural session was graced by Shri Sagar Hanuman Singh, IPoS, Chief Postmaster General, Jammu & Kashmir Circle, and Chairman, Nagar Rajbhasha Karyanvayan Samiti (NARAKAS), as the Chief Guest. Dr. Younis Iftikhar Munshi, Deputy Director General, CCRUM, attended as the Guest of Honour, while Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM, presided over the programme virtually.
Welcoming the participants, Shri Mayank Tiwari, Administrative Officer and Programme Coordinator, highlighted the initiatives undertaken by the Council Headquarters to promote the use of Hindi in official correspondence and administration.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Sagar Hanuman Singh described Hindi as a unifying force that connects India administratively, culturally and emotionally. He emphasised that language is an integral part of national identity and called for collective efforts to further strengthen the use of Hindi in official functioning while preserving India's rich linguistic diversity.
In his virtual address, Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed said that following the successful organisation of Dakshin Samvad–2025 in Chennai, the Council was pleased to host Uttar Samvad–2026 in Srinagar. He expressed satisfaction over the progress made in implementing the Official Language Policy across CCRUM institutions and reaffirmed the Council's commitment to achieving its Official Language targets in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Younis Iftikhar Munshi highlighted the constitutional significance of Hindi as the Official Language and stressed the need to promote Hindi alongside other Indian languages in day-to-day government functioning. He called upon officers and employees to increase the use of Hindi in official correspondence and administrative work.
