DBU Hosts 5-Day FDP on Generative AI and Digital Transformation
Mandi Gobindgarh, August 20: The Department of Business Management & Commerce, Desh Bhagat University (DBU), organised a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Generative AI and Digital Transformation in Commerce and Management Education: Teaching, Research and Industry Applications.” The programme focused on equipping faculty members with contemporary knowledge and practical skills in Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital technologies, innovative pedagogy, and research applications.
The FDP highlighted the growing significance of AI and digital transformation in higher education and provided participants with opportunities to explore emerging AI tools, technology-enabled teaching methodologies, research applications, and industry-oriented practices.
Dr. Zora Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, appreciated the initiative and commended the organisers and resource persons for their contribution towards technology-driven teaching, research, and innovation. He emphasised that such programmes are essential for enhancing faculty competencies and preparing educators and students to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving digital world.
Prof. (Dr.) Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor, DBU, congratulated the department for organising the FDP and underlined the transformative potential of AI in education. He stressed the need for continuous upskilling of faculty members and encouraged the responsible and innovative use of Generative AI to enhance teaching effectiveness, research quality, creativity, and student engagement.
Dr. G.S. Batra, Pro Vice Chancellor, RDC, DBU, emphasised the importance of embracing digital transformation and emerging technologies in higher education.
The programme featured expert sessions by Dr. Manvinder Singh Tandon, Dr. Amarinder Singh, Professor, Jain University, Bengaluru, Dr. Payal Bassi, Dr. Gurvinder Singh, Dr. Ripudaman Singh, Dr. Aditya Bakhshi, and Dr. Amandeep Kaur. The experts shared valuable insights through interactive discussions, demonstrations, practical applications, and case-based learning.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Nidhi Gupta, Director, Department of Business Management & Commerce, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the university leadership, resource persons, faculty members, and participants for their valuable contributions. She also appreciated the dedicated efforts of the FDP coordinators, Dr. Baldeep Singh, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Tavneet K. Reen, Assistant Professor, for their effective coordination and meticulous planning.
