The Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu & Kashmir (IRCS J&K) organized a vibrant and inspiring Painting Competition as part of the ongoing week-long celebrations leading up to World Red Cross Day, which will be observed on 8th May 2026. The event was centred around the meaningful theme “Unity in Humanity,” reflecting the core values and mission of the Red Cross movement worldwide.

The event was held at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu, where students from a wide range of government and private schools participated with great enthusiasm and zeal. The venue was filled with creativity and positive energy as young artists translated humanitarian values into powerful visual expressions. Through their paintings, the participants beautifully portrayed messages of compassion, peace, solidarity, and the importance of standing together in times of need.

The event not only encouraged artistic talent among students but also served as a platform to instil a sense of social responsibility and awareness about humanitarian service. The paintings reflected a deep understanding of the theme, highlighting how unity, empathy, and collective action can make a significant difference in society.

Teachers and accompanying staff also appreciated the initiative taken by IRCS J&K, stating that such activities play a vital role in shaping young minds and encouraging them to become responsible and compassionate citizens.

The programme was successfully conducted under the able guidance and leadership of Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS J&K, whose vision continues to promote youth engagement in humanitarian activities across the Union Territory.

On this occasion, he stated "It is truly heartening to witness such enthusiastic participation from our young generation in activities that promote the spirit of humanity. The theme ‘Unity in Humanity’ is not just a slogan, but a guiding principle that reminds us of our collective responsibility towards society. Through this painting event, students have beautifully expressed their understanding of compassion, kindness, and togetherness.

The Indian Red Cross Society has always been committed to serving humanity without any discrimination, and it is encouraging to see these values being reflected so creatively by our youth. I congratulate all the participants for their wonderful efforts and extend my appreciation to the schools and teachers for their support. Let us continue to work together to build a more compassionate and united society.”

All the students were appreciated and will be felicitated during the main event on World Red Cross Day. All participants were also acknowledged for their efforts and creativity.

IRCS J&K extends heartfelt gratitude to all the participating schools, students, teachers, and volunteers for their active involvement and support in making the event a grand success.
