BEIJING, Jul 9 : Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Doraiswami visited the 7th-century Kaiyuan Temple in Quanzhou, Fujian, on Thursday.

Doraiswami, along with Indian Consul General in Guangzhou Gince Mattom, visited the temple where they were received by Chief Monk Ven. Shi De Sheng.

"A testament to centuries of India-China cultural exchanges, the temple reflects artistic and architectural influences of both local and ancient Indian traditions," the Indian Embassy said in a social media post.

Kaiyuan Temple is one of the few temples in China to contain Hindu monuments, left there by traders from southern India.

Quanzhou was a major trading centre of the Maritime Silk Road, attracting merchants from South India and Southeast Asia. (PTI)
