Awantipora, June 29: The Department of Mathematical Sciences, Islamic University of  Science and Technology (IUST), in collaboration with Mantaqui Memorial Wakf Higher  Secondary School organized Workshop-cum-Awareness Programme to commemorate  National Statistics Day 2026. 

The programme aimed to promote statistical literacy and create awareness about the growing  significance of statistics, mathematics, and data analytics in research, policymaking, and  national development. Addressing the participants, Dr. Peer Bilal Ahmad, Head, Department  of Mathematical Sciences, highlighted the legacy of Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis and  elaborated on this year's theme, "Unlocking the Potential of Administrative Data,"  underscoring its role in evidence-based governance and sustainable development. 

Dr. Bilal Ahmad Para, Assistant Professor, delivered an engaging session on the transformative  role of data analytics across diverse sectors, inspiring students to explore emerging  opportunities in the data-driven world. The workshop had active enthusiastic participation from  students and faculty and concluded with an interactive discussion.
