Srinagar, June 02: In a major boost to healthcare, the select list of 412 allopathic Medical Officers has been issued by J&K Public Service Commission. The Health and Medical Education Department has now directed the selectees to proceed to the verification phase.
Marking one of the largest recruitments of doctors in recent years, the medical officers are meant to strengthen the delivery of healthcare in peripheral areas. As per the notice issued by GAD today, the Health and Medical Education Department has received Select List of Medical Officers from JKPSC (PSC/DR/Medical Officer (Allopathic) H&ME/2026 The H&ME has subsequently initiated the process for verification of character and antecedents of the selected candidates. The list has 412 medical officers.
The selectees have been directed to complete the verification within stipulated time, the failure to do so will be treated as unwillingness to accept the appointment. This could result in forfeiture of the claim to the post.
The posts, 480 in number, had been advertised on 25 December 2025.
The recruitment is expected to provide a boost to healthcare delivery across J&K’s peripheries. The H&ME Department officials said it is a major step in strengthening primary and secondary healthcare services. “The new Medical Officers are likely to ease manpower constraints in hospitals and health institutions in villages and far-flung areas,” a senior official said.
