NEW DELHI, June 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made it categorically clear that there was no question of the party entering into any alliance with the National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir and that the BJP-led Central Government is extending support to the Government for betterment of the Union Territory.

``There will be no tie-up with the National Conference which is in power in Jammu and Kashmir for last one and a half years now. We are ideologically poles apart. The Centre is supporting Omar Government for betterment of Jammu and Kashmir,'' highly placed sources in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) here told the sources.

In the House of 90 in Jammu and Kashmir, NC has 41 members and BJP 29. NC has been running the Government with the support of six Independents and Others. Congress with six MLAs is also supporting the NC as both parties had contested Assembly elections in alliance with each other.

The BJP has been on offensive now and has repeatedly been targeting the Omar Abdullah Government for what it called "failures on different fronts''.

On the call given by National Conference for protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on first day of Monsoon session of Parliament beginning third week of July, the sources indicated that the NC will be allowed to hold peaceful protest and there will be no hindrance on part of the Central Government to block the protest.

“Space for protests is defined in Delhi and anyone can protest,'' they asserted.

At its day-long meeting of legislators at Dachigam in Srinagar under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah last week, the National Conference had announced protest at Jantar Mantar on Day One of Parliament's Monsoon session in support of the Statehood demand.

Making it clear that there is no question of any talks, even backchannel with Pakistan, as the neighbouring country has been sponsoring terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the sources said the Government of India has very clear stand on this year.

``No talks are going on at any level with Pakistan as it has been involving in sending terrorists to Jammu and Kashmir,'' the sources said.

The Union Home Ministry has been working on `Smart Border' project along the borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh to completely plug infiltration of terrorists and illegal immigrants, the sources said, adding that the `Smart Border' will be developed initially at seven to eight places as pilot project and after trials, the international boundary along with Pakistan and Bangladesh will be covered.

The `Smart Border', they said, will be developed in such a way that it will completely plug the infiltration.

"The conventional border guarding methods alone are no longer sufficient in the face of rapidly changing threats. While some border sectors face infiltration attempts, others are vulnerable to narcotics smuggling, counterfeit currency networks, arms and cattle smuggling, illegal migration and the use of drones for transporting contraband.

"Each border has distinct security concerns and requires a specialised response. Their objective is to build technology-driven security architecture capable of detecting and preventing every form of cross-border crime," the sources said, adding the Smart Border framework is in its final stages of planning.

At the same time, the Centre remains committed to its stand on throwing out all illegal immigrants from the country.

The Union Home Ministry has been expecting large number of devotees to visit holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath Ji in South Kashmir Himalayas during 57-day-long pilgrimage starting July 3 and ending August 28 and in view of this is making all arrangements in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

``As peace has been established in Jammu and Kashmir, number of the pilgrims is expected to go up. Home Minister Amit Shah will shortly hold review of all arrangements for the annual pilgrimage including security," the sources said.

The Centre is of the view that most of the issues raised by the bodies in the Union Territory of Ladakh have been addressed.

In May 22 Sub-Committee meeting held in New Delhi, the MHA had in-principle agreed to give UT-type elected legislative body to Ladakh with legislative, financial and executive powers and seven District Councils.

On the issues along Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, the sources said the LAC has been peaceful. On fresh incidents of grenade attacks and blasts in Punjab, they added that there is no chance of revival of terrorism there and that the incidents are minor. On Uniform Civil Code which has been implemented in three BJP-ruled States, the Centre Government sources said, it will be implemented in all BJP ruled States.
