Srinagar, June 13: The Pahalgam Trade and Civil Society Alliance on Saturday expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for facilitating the reopening of key tourist destinations in the region and urged authorities to restore access to more tourist sites to boost local tourism.

In a statement, Mushtaq Pahalgami, Chief Spokesperson of the Pahalgam Trade and Civil Society Alliance (Pahalgami Alliance), welcomed the reopening of Chandanwari and Gulshan Park in Aishmuqam, describing the move as a positive response to genuine public demands.

He thanked Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Divisional Administration, and the District Administration for fulfilling the commitments made during a recent meeting regarding the reopening of tourist destinations in the area.

Pahalgami said the Alliance was pleased that Chandanwari had been reopened earlier and that Gulshan Park, Aishmuqam, was reopened on Thursday, bringing relief to stakeholders associated with the tourism sector.

While welcoming the development, he reiterated the demand that tourist vehicles be allowed to travel beyond Lower Chandanwari up to the main Chandanwari area, saying the move would significantly improve visitor convenience and strengthen tourism-related economic activity.

He also urged the authorities to reopen the Bijbehara–Langanbal Road for tourists, noting that the route has remained closed for a considerable period despite its importance to the tourism sector.

Pahalgami further said the Alliance deeply appreciates the Lieutenant Governor's continued support and attention to public concerns and expressed hope that the remaining tourist destinations, including Baisaran Valley, Dabyan Valley and other important attractions, would also be reopened soon through appropriate government orders.

The Alliance said the reopening of tourist destinations is crucial for reviving tourism and supporting the livelihoods of thousands of people dependent on the sector in the Pahalgam region.
