Kupwara, August 2: In a significant political development, nearly 200 people from various parts of Kupwara district on Saturday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a joining programme held at the party's district headquarters in Kupwara.
The new entrants hailed from Awoora, Manwan, Reshwari and several other areas of the district. The joining programme was attended by senior BJP leaders and party functionaries, who welcomed the new members into the party fold.
The joining drive was carried out by BJP Jankalyan Manch Mahila Morcha and National Secretary Parvin Akhtar Khan, who described the response as a clear indication of the party's growing public support in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Jankalyan Manch Mahila Morcha Parvin Akhtar Khan said that the newly inducted members had chosen to leave political parties such as the National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and others to join the BJP. She said the increasing number of people associating with the BJP reflects the party's expanding grassroots presence and the growing confidence of the public in its vision and leadership.
She further stated that the BJP is witnessing fresh joinings almost every day, which, according to her, demonstrates the strengthening bond between the party and the people across Kupwara.
The programme concluded with party leaders expressing confidence that the fresh induction of members would further strengthen the BJP's organisational base in the district and enhance its outreach at the grassroots level.
