President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday reviewed the Passing Out Parade of the 158th Regular Course and the 141st Technical Graduate Course at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.
Congratulating the officer cadets on successfully completing one of the country’s toughest training programmes, the President said they would play a vital role in safeguarding India’s sovereignty, unity and integrity.
Highlighting the presence of nine women cadets in the graduating batch, Murmu described it as a watershed moment in the history of the IMA and a significant milestone for India’s armed forces. She said it was an inspiring example of the country’s progress towards women-led development and expressed confidence that more women would join the academy in the future.
The President also congratulated cadets from friendly foreign countries and said their presence reflected India’s commitment to friendship, cooperation and peaceful relations with nations around the world. She noted that the bonds formed at the academy help strengthen defence cooperation between countries.
Addressing the newly commissioned officers, Murmu urged them to remain adaptive and future-ready in the face of evolving security challenges and technological changes. She called on them to be lifelong learners, ethical leaders and courageous decision-makers.
She also reminded the young officers of their responsibility towards the soldiers under their command, saying they must lead from the front, inspire confidence, promote teamwork and care for the welfare of their troops while upholding the finest traditions of the armed forces.
