Audio of Pseudo Journalists blackmailing contractor goes viral on social media

Baramulla: A five-minute audio clip which is doing rounds on different social media platforms in which a person who claims himself a Journalist is blackmailing a Contractor over inappropriate construction work in north Kashmir’s Baramulla.

In a 5-minute phone call audio, a person who claims himself a Journalist reportedly working with JK Revolution could be heard saying to the contractor,” you are not doing your work honestly and we will complaint it to your higher-ups”, he said in order to extort money from him.

Reportedly, The contractor was assigned a work of blacktopping of Sheeri-Audroa road.

“We covered a long distance to record this story, at least give money for petrol and rest could be discussed later on”, a person could be heard saying in the audio.

Another person a reporter of (The Real Kashmir News) who also could be heard saying to him that, “we are at least four people, we recorded the things, it’s up to us whether we will run it or not, you just transfer money via mPay for petrol at least, rest would be taken up at your office”.

However, The Real Kashmir News and JK Revolution terminated the said reporters of the Baramulla district with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) condemns the act by the pseudo Journalists, says we believe in the professionalism and ethics of Journalism.

We demand stern action against the blackmailers and yellow journalists who degrade and malign the image of this noble profession, the spokesperson of this association said.
